Matt Douglas also known as D53 and D gie pronounced doug-ee is from originally from California Cupertino and makes retrofuturistic electronic music It ranges from house and nbsp dance-pop to even the Rhythm and Hip Hop side of things It takes some form from old M A R R S tracks and mashes it with Jeff Beck or Khruangbin I have a tough time defining what I make in those terms but I m mostly just trying to have a lot of fun making it and doing cool weird stuff -MattMatt used to play in a band called Clusterfunk in Austin from 2016 till earlier this year Clusterfunk has played at many of the venues in Austin including empire control room one-2-one bar the Mohawk and the Parish and has opened for or played with a number of great bands such as Big Wy s Brass Band TC Superstar and Lakandon with General Smiley nbsp We also played at the college Co-Op s a lot and I still hold those people and those places deep in my heart -Also MattWorth noting this is part 1 of a 2 part interview We covered so many topics and Matt was great to talk to Part one starts off the conversation and Matt talks about his innovations and ideas musical influences Part 2 Matt gets more into his history and the Austin based band Clusterfunk -GuillermoWe talk about our love for loud music the importance of innovation and nbsp Hope you enjoy
