VOICEOVER:

Everybody's got an opinion

VOICEOVER:

Every Californian and Virginian.

VOICEOVER:

It's so hard to tell who to trust and who to ignore

VOICEOVER:

. TREY: Hello?

CHELSEY:

Hello, welcome to Review That Review.

CHELSEY:

the, um, intro song is always my warm-up like, you know, when you go to the gym and

CHELSEY:

That's what our themes dog does for me.

CHELSEY:

I hope, I hope it energizes the audience.

TREY:

I wonder if the audience steps that, cause they're just so eager to get to us or

CHELSEY:

I mean, I will say it was at a friend's house last night and

CHELSEY:

It was like very trippy.

CHELSEY:

She like

TREY:

Wait really?

CHELSEY:

I swear!

CHELSEY:

She couldn't stop singing the theme song.

CHELSEY:

And I was like, oh my God, it gets stuck in other people's heads besides mine.

CHELSEY:

So maybe we should apologize to Rice-A-Roni.

TREY:

No, that's not happening, but I do think like we are so lucky

CHELSEY:

Should we say what we are, what we

TREY:

Oh yeah.

CHELSEY:

I mean, if you, if you're listening this far, maybe you already know, but just in case,

TREY:

We do though have, written transcriptions of each episode for

TREY:

So let's just say it for the fun of event.

TREY:

Do you want to wait?

TREY:

Do you want to say it together?

TREY:

I want to see how it

CHELSEY:

I think it will go badly, but we can try.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

Ready?

CHELSEY:

Sure.

TREY:

1, 2, 3,

TREY:

welcome

TREY:

to review that rear view the

CHELSEY:

podcast static.

TREY:

...You're trying to be bad.

CHELSEY:

I am not!

CHELSEY:

I'm trying to be good!

TREY:

Oh...

TREY:

Welcome to Review That Review, the podcast dedicated to reviewing.

CHELSEY:

...reviews!

CHELSEY:

We're just like Siskel and Ebert only instead of reviewing cinematic, masterpieces, we

TREY:

That's Chelsey Donn.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

And that's Trey Gerrald.

TREY:

and together.

TREY:

We're

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens!

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

How's your crown today?

TREY:

Chels ,You RQ, You!

CHELSEY:

Aw that RQ.

CHELSEY:

I like that.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

You RQ you.

CHELSEY:

Um, my crown is great.

CHELSEY:

It's virtual today, so it's quite light, which I appreciate.

CHELSEY:

I feel very good.

CHELSEY:

, how have you been how's your week been?

CHELSEY:

Trey.

TREY:

I'm good.

TREY:

My crown's also virtual.

TREY:

Other side.

TREY:

I'm good.

TREY:

I'm good.

TREY:

It was a little rainy today, which was a little unexpected I'm.

TREY:

So in this habit now of going on a daily walk sometimes two, with the two dogs

TREY:

I have this tandem leash.

TREY:

So it's like the two dogs.

TREY:

And so it's, it is an event.

TREY:

It's not a bad thing, but it's an event.

TREY:

And then we get outside and then David wanted to join and our nephew Denver's staying.

TREY:

So then he was going to come and then it was, then we literally walked,

TREY:

We walked maybe five steps and it started like, it was like, oh, I think it's spitting.

TREY:

And then it was like,

CHELSEY:

Oh, no.

TREY:

it was crazy.

TREY:

So we ran back.

CHELSEY:

Did you get caught or would you even, were you able to get home?

TREY:

No.

TREY:

We were like so close to the garage.

TREY:

Like we were still in the driveway that it was sort of like, well,

TREY:

But then it did sort of stop a little bit.

TREY:

And David walked around with an umbrella and I just sort of took the rain.

TREY:

It was fine.

TREY:

How about you?

CHELSEY:

I'm good.

CHELSEY:

I have this random pain sometimes in my, I know it's weird in my pointer finger on my left hand,

CHELSEY:

And so I had this like throbbing pain and this finger all night, so I didn't get the best

CHELSEY:

Oddly enough.

TREY:

That is so wild.

TREY:

The body is so weird how everything is connected.

CHELSEY:

Yeah, it's bizarre.

CHELSEY:

But Jenny, Watch That Rock Pilates, I mean, she knows what she's doing, so thank God for

TREY:

She said you got a problem in your finger.

TREY:

Let's move that neck.

CHELSEY:

Let's move that neck.

TREY:

Well, besides the, um, pain in your finger, is there any complaint you want a lodge?

VOICEOVER:

Lodge a Complaint.

CHELSEY:

Yes.

CHELSEY:

I would like to lodge a complaint against cell phones.

CHELSEY:

Like, you know, when you have full bars, like you look at your phone, you're like,

CHELSEY:

And then you're like, I have full bars and then your friends, like I also have full bars.

CHELSEY:

do the bars even mean anything anymore?

CHELSEY:

It's really annoying.

TREY:

Does the friend have the same,

CHELSEY:

No different service provider, you know, does this happen to you?

TREY:

It's odd that you're saying that because I do find that I will

TREY:

When I purchased my iPad, this is a tangent.

TREY:

I was duped into getting it a cell plan, which I didn't comprehend what was happening.

TREY:

And then I did, when I got my bill and I was like, what the fuck?

TREY:

And then I called and was like, wait, what happened?

TREY:

And they're like, yeah, that's correct.

TREY:

And I was like, oh, but I can, I have it without that.

TREY:

And they're like, that's the plan you chose?

TREY:

And I was like, so I just felt stupid.

TREY:

And I hung up and then like later I was like, I have to cancel this!

TREY:

Tangent.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

Um, yes, I do have to flip my cell phone a lot back from like I T turn the wifi

TREY:

I'll put on airplane, not airplane

CHELSEY:

Same.

TREY:

and some how that will trigger better service.

TREY:

But I have to like do that for a couple of seconds.

TREY:

It's very weird.

CHELSEY:

it is very weird.

CHELSEY:

It doesn't really make any sense to me.

CHELSEY:

I don't know what the bars are supposed to mean.

CHELSEY:

Like I thought I could trust the bars, you know, like right now I have two bars and I live

CHELSEY:

So that feels accurate to me.

CHELSEY:

And that's okay.

CHELSEY:

Like, I'm cool.

CHELSEY:

If you want to let me know that I don't always have full service, but don't lie to me.

CHELSEY:

It's hurtful.

TREY:

I hear that so hard.

TREY:

What's the first visual.

TREY:

When you hear the word B A R S.

CHELSEY:

Jail.

TREY:

Oh, see, I think of like a candy bar,

CHELSEY:

Oh God.

CHELSEY:

What does that say about us?

TREY:

but I also, like when you were saying bars, I then thought about like a bar,

CHELSEY:

Oh, or bar.

CHELSEY:

Wow.

CHELSEY:

I think that, I felt maybe I felt bars like jail bars, because I feel imprisoned by, you

TREY:

You know, David has Verizon and I still have AT&T.

CHELSEY:

Yes.

TREY:

And that is a very interesting dynamic for a spouse to have a different wireless company,

TREY:

But the good thing about that is that if one of us doesn't have service, odds are the other one will.

TREY:

And that's really fantastic.

CHELSEY:

That is nice.

CHELSEY:

I think that's helpful.

CHELSEY:

I actually think it's helpful to have an inter wireless or inter network relationship.

TREY:

Yeah.

TREY:

That's like, that's the key to marriage.

CHELSEY:

is the key.

CHELSEY:

I mean, weirdly enough, you would be great here AT&T service at my house is excellent.

CHELSEY:

Verizon is no good.

CHELSEY:

So maybe we should just do a swap.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

That, that's fine with

CHELSEY:

Seems like a realistic solution.

CHELSEY:

Anyway, what is your complaint?

CHELSEY:

Do you have a complaint to lodge?

TREY:

Yeah.

TREY:

I have a couple of complaints to lodge.

TREY:

the one that's the most pressing I'm choosing to not do because it's so basic.

TREY:

And it's been covered a lot.

TREY:

The roof of my mouth was burned today by a Hot Pocket, but I'm not going to go into that.

TREY:

Cause it's just, everyone knows.

TREY:

And it's like, enough.

CHELSEY:

I think we should go into it, but sure.

TREY:

Well, I just feel like it's like such an

CHELSEY:

this is your cathartic moment.

CHELSEY:

So pick, pick the complaint you want to lodge.

TREY:

I want to lodge a complaint against taking group photos.

CHELSEY:

mmm, Okay.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

Now this is something that really gets me.

TREY:

And I know that I am married to a professional photographer, so I need to

CHELSEY:

Yeah,

TREY:

it's something that has come up a lot in our relationship because

TREY:

Wanted to take a picture underneath every Broadway marquee.

TREY:

Like anytime we saw a show and we were very fortunate that that's like an

TREY:

So we would go to a lot of Broadway shows and I am a person that I

TREY:

And so I'm always in a rush.

TREY:

And then I want to like go in and I want to like sit down.

TREY:

I want to read the Playbill, anyway, that has come up a lot.

TREY:

But when we're in group settings, And it's like, let's commemorate

TREY:

Everyone gets together.

TREY:

Well, we're not in like in a photo development phase anymore.

TREY:

everyone has a smartphone, everyone's having a side conversation.

TREY:

No one is ready to stand together and then take a picture.

TREY:

And then some Aunt is always going to have her eyes closed.

TREY:

Some family member that suddenly has disappeared and they've gone to the bathroom

TREY:

Can't say, oh, we got away.

TREY:

Everyone weighed everyone.

TREY:

And that's like, let's get the waiter over here to take a picture.

TREY:

And then it's like, the waiter has 17 tables and they don't want to take your stupid picture.

TREY:

And it's like, or you get somebody.

TREY:

Like doesn't know how to use the phone.

TREY:

And then it's like, oh no, this is an Android.

TREY:

I don't have an Android.

TREY:

then it's like, oh yeah, this is an Android.

TREY:

Now you have to do this.

TREY:

Oh wait, can you do a flash?

TREY:

It's like, I don't know how to work the phone.

TREY:

And then you have to like go over and do stuff.

TREY:

And then everyone's like, oh wait, are my eyes closed?

TREY:

Oh, I don't like my, everyone has to look at the picture...

CHELSEY:

...a week later.

TREY:

And then we haven't even gotten to the Jewish goodbyes yet.

TREY:

It's like, then, it's 25 minutes before we complete taking this photograph.

TREY:

And then someone's not happy with the picture a group.

CHELSEY:

Always!

TREY:

just really...

CHELSEY:

...you don't end up using the photo,

TREY:

well, no one uses the photos anyway.

TREY:

It's like, they just like sit Marie Kondo, digital clutter.

TREY:

Like no one is seeing these pictures.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

TREY:

But I do recognize that it is really nice to go back and see images from a long time ago.

TREY:

And I recognize the value.

TREY:

It just it's like back in the days you took a picture, it went to the photo lab.

TREY:

You waited a week.

TREY:

They developed it.

TREY:

One hour photo.

TREY:

Oh my God.

TREY:

One hour photo.

TREY:

and then you would get whatever the picture was...was!

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

TREY:

But now we're also in this whole digital age of face tuning and beauty

TREY:

And so no one thinks they look pretty because we're not used to seeing actual humans anymore.

TREY:

We're seeing like fake, blurred out skin people.

TREY:

Oh, it's just a vicious circle.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

I feel you, I think it's so funny actually to me that you brought this up because

CHELSEY:

I was like very stressed because I was running late and then they got there and

CHELSEY:

And I just, you know, she's like, you look like, you know how to take a good picture.

CHELSEY:

And I'm like, well, that's an accurate assumption.

CHELSEY:

So I felt like, yeah, let me help him out.

CHELSEY:

And

TREY:

that is the danger right there,

CHELSEY:

20 later,

TREY:

that, but her saying, oh, you're going to be good at this.

TREY:

It's already like, you're going to be too much work for me.

TREY:

Sorry.

TREY:

I interrupted you, keep going.

CHELSEY:

I Know it was so much work and there were kids in the photos that they weren't looking.

CHELSEY:

And it's just funny to me that you brought that up because that literally just happened to me so...

CHELSEY:

accurate.

TREY:

And then also, I just, I do recognize that like family matters and like we

CHELSEY:

That was why I stepped up, even though I was late.

CHELSEY:

Cause I was like, yes, I am good at taking these photos.

CHELSEY:

And like, I can imagine you might get a terrible photo.

CHELSEY:

So like allow me to give you this experience.

CHELSEY:

But it did go on a little bit longer than I had anticipated.

TREY:

I'm amazed that we had just talked about photos for so long.

TREY:

I mean, it actually, this is really becoming an enjoyable segment for

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

TREY:

Are pretty universal.

TREY:

And so like, there is something freeing about like sharing it and

TREY:

And then it's like, well, whatever, you know,

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

Oh, it's great.

CHELSEY:

Sometimes you need to kvetch and with that in mind,

TREY:

sorry.

TREY:

I just, I just.

TREY:

No I just, got, um,

CHELSEY:

the lozenge.

TREY:

Chelsey sent me a care package, black currant sugar-free Grether's Pastilles.

TREY:

Dell ...pustules?

CHELSEY:

Yeah, "Pastilles".

CHELSEY:

I don't know.

CHELSEY:

It's French.

CHELSEY:

I think

TREY:

I remember my voice teacher in college always had these,

CHELSEY:

Yeah, they're so good.

TREY:

so I was popping one in my mouth because I wanted it to be able

TREY:

And then you were like, teeing me up so beautifully.

TREY:

wow.

TREY:

18 minutes in and

CHELSEY:

Well,

TREY:

in and here we are.

TREY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

I would be remiss.

CHELSEY:

Um, not right before we started to just point out to the audience who can't see what I can see.

CHELSEY:

That Trey is like serving us sexy.

CHELSEY:

Where's Waldo today.

TREY:

This is from our photoshoot.

CHELSEY:

I know, but it's like in just the red and white Stripe, I dunno, you're serving me Waldo

TREY:

Thank you.

TREY:

Thank you.

TREY:

I could wear my glasses.

CHELSEY:

I just, yeah, if you had the glasses, you would be, oh my God.

CHELSEY:

Yes.

CHELSEY:

Like Trey, you know, like when you go on the internet and you see those Halloween

CHELSEY:

Adorable, Where's Waldo.

TREY:

I went as a Where's Waldo before

CHELSEY:

Did you wear that shirt?

TREY:

I wore like the actual, like expensive Where's Waldo costume shirt.

CHELSEY:

well, there you go.

CHELSEY:

Anyway,

TREY:

It came with a beanie.

TREY:

That was really cute.

TREY:

I don't know where that went.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

Anyway, whatever.

CHELSEY:

anyway, but you have a crown instead All right.

CHELSEY:

That was a tangent.

CHELSEY:

Let's get into.

VOICEOVER:

Assess that Kvetch

CHELSEY:

All right, who's going first.

CHELSEY:

So I think you're going first today.

CHELSEY:

Did I go first, last time?

TREY:

It is I, the gay Review Queen.

CHELSEY:

Oh my goodness.

CHELSEY:

I'm so excited.

CHELSEY:

Hit it, Sistah.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

my review today is a one dot review from TripAdvisor.

TREY:

This is on a list.

TREY:

It is number 102 of 318 things to do in Honolulu.

TREY:

And it is from Lisa and the review subject is shopping at Ross Dress

TREY:

So it has nothing to do with Honolulu.

CHELSEY:

What?

CHELSEY:

I'm so confused.

CHELSEY:

So, wait, hold on this, you found this on a list,

TREY:

...of things to do in Honolulu,

CHELSEY:

but what we actually discovered was a review for the Ross in

TREY:

Virginia

CHELSEY:

Virginia.

TREY:

Because Lisa wrote the review

CHELSEY:

under this

TREY:

the Honolulu Ross Dress for Less.

CHELSEY:

Oy Lisa.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

Already, already starting off on an interesting foot.

CHELSEY:

All right.

CHELSEY:

Let's hear from Lisa.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

I experienced a first this evening.

TREY:

While traveling, we stopped at Ross Dress for Less in Glen Alen, Virginia.

TREY:

I had found an item of clothing in another Ross store in another city, but needed a larger size.

TREY:

So stopped when I found this Ross.

TREY:

It was 7:30 PM and the store didn't close until 10:00 PM.

TREY:

As I shopped, I was pleased to find what I was seeking as well as several

TREY:

Here's the shocker!

TREY:

I was told all dressing rooms are closed after 7:30, so I couldn't try them on.

TREY:

Are you kidding me?

TREY:

A clothing store that doesn't allow you to try them on before purchase.

TREY:

If you're perhaps having security issues, hire a security guard.

TREY:

If you can't do that, then you should close the store the minute you close the dressing rooms.

TREY:

I had several items I chose not to purchase when I found this out.

TREY:

I even quite shopping altogether.

TREY:

I proceeded to the checkout with only the item I had found in the larger size

TREY:

There was one woman with two small children in front of me.

TREY:

I waited for her to decide what she was purchasing and deliberate for several minutes

TREY:

At this point, I was becoming rather agitated since we had a long drive still ahead of us.

TREY:

The manager couldn't get the woman's card to run through and kept apologizing.

TREY:

After at least 10 more minutes, she announced she would have to void the entire

TREY:

She apologized to me for having to wait.

TREY:

At which time I expressed my concerns and shock at their policy.

TREY:

She told me she had expressed comments to the manager.

TREY:

But he wouldn't let her keep the dressing rooms open later.

TREY:

I stated that he then needed to be on site dealing with angry customers.

TREY:

Furthermore, I informed her, I was told she was the manager, a comment to which

TREY:

After waiting several more minutes for the transaction, still to be completed for the

TREY:

This store lost ALL of my business this evening, and I can assure

TREY:

When next I travel this way.

TREY:

Furthermore, everyone I know will hear this story.

TREY:

In my opinion, there are enough Ross's in the Richmond, Virginia, that if you

TREY:

I've never been so appalled in my life.

TREY:

And I've shopped at many, a Ross store and many states as I've traveled.

TREY:

Very disappointed and amazed this store is allowed to operate this way.

CHELSEY:

Wow.

CHELSEY:

Oh my God.

CHELSEY:

Lisa, Lisa, like, I feel like I need like a fire extinguisher or something to put her out.

CHELSEY:

She was really fired up there.

TREY:

I have a lot of thoughts here.

TREY:

There are a bunch of like, very like random misspellings.

TREY:

everyone will hear about this.

TREY:

It's spelled H E R E.

TREY:

there's a bunch of I'S that are not capitalized.

TREY:

Also.

TREY:

I do recognize the validity of complaining what's the point in shopping

TREY:

But I will say that everyone knows that Ross and TJ, max, all these stores, they

TREY:

All the stuff in the line going to check out is like gadgets and gizmos.

TREY:

A plenty.

TREY:

So you don't have try them on anyway.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

I've talked a lot.

TREY:

Tell me what you're thinking.

TREY:

Chels.

CHELSEY:

So many thoughts.

CHELSEY:

Like, first of all, I feel like I need to put aside that she reviewed

CHELSEY:

Cause that's gonna distract me now.

CHELSEY:

But I do have a question, like when I put this on this list of Honolulu things, does

TREY:

No, this was Honolulu location.

CHELSEY:

okay, well then therefore this route review is like completely useless.

CHELSEY:

Would this impact my ability to, or my willingness to shop at this Ross, et cetera.

CHELSEY:

Like, I feel like I can't even bring that into play, However I have thoughts.

CHELSEY:

All right.

CHELSEY:

where are we traveling to?

CHELSEY:

It was like, while traveling, like, so like, are we traveling to Honolulu?

CHELSEY:

Maybe?

CHELSEY:

I don't think we can drive there.

TREY:

I have no idea.

CHELSEY:

But we're clearly traveling.

CHELSEY:

What I was shocked.

CHELSEY:

That was when she, first of all, she informed us later that she's an avid Ross shopper, but

CHELSEY:

I was thinking that's a gamble, honey, because aren't the Ross,

CHELSEY:

So it's like what you find at one Ross.

CHELSEY:

You're not going to necessarily find it in another.

TREY:

Yeah.

TREY:

When I read that at the beginning, I was like, oh my God, that's a magic trick.

TREY:

That same thing was there.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

How do you feel about the dressing room?

CHELSEY:

Closing at 7:30 as a policy?

TREY:

It does sound to me that perhaps this Ross was understaffed.

TREY:

If the manager is running the register.

TREY:

There's no reason to shut it down, right?

CHELSEY:

I mean, the only thing that I was thinking that they close at eight.

TREY:

10

CHELSEY:

Oh, they close at 10.

TREY:

yup.

CHELSEY:

then ridiculous.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

That's crazy.

TREY:

Yeah.

TREY:

It's two and a half hours early.

CHELSEY:

right.

CHELSEY:

So I'll give Lisa that, like, that's an insane policy in my mind.

CHELSEY:

I was like, okay, well, if they close at eight, maybe it's just that, like, if we let people

CHELSEY:

So I was sort of giving them a little bit of the benefit of the doubt, but if it was

CHELSEY:

Did she say that this made her quit shopping altogether?

CHELSEY:

Was that like a declarative statement?

CHELSEY:

Like I'm I no longer shopper that just made her quit shopping at the Ross?

TREY:

Well, she says that she'll never shop here again when next I travel this way.

CHELSEY:

No, but before that, earlier in there she said something like, I think she

TREY:

Yes, that's right.

TREY:

Lisa realized they could no longer...

CHELSEY:

They couldn't try things on.

CHELSEY:

So she was just like, I'm not going to buy anything, cause at first I

CHELSEY:

Like, and I'd quit shopping altogether.

CHELSEY:

I mean, she knew so many details about this other woman that was checking out.

CHELSEY:

First of all, it sounds like that other woman was in the middle of a nightmare.

CHELSEY:

And Lisa had like, no empathy for what was happening right.

CHELSEY:

With that woman.

CHELSEY:

Like the card reader wasn't working.

TREY:

She's dealing with the kids that that want a

CHELSEY:

had children.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

That are like screaming and like, I want this mommy, you know, and that's like a nightmare.

CHELSEY:

Like, it sounds like that woman was having a nightmare as well,

TREY:

What do you think about engaging with the cashier while you're behind the person that's

CHELSEY:

I mean, that's a pet peeve like that.

CHELSEY:

Like, listen, like, I don't know, like Lisa is obviously making it sound

CHELSEY:

And there are like her family's like waiting outside for her.

CHELSEY:

So she's very anxious clearly to get out of here.

CHELSEY:

I don't know, like, it just seems I got so many Karen vibes.

CHELSEY:

Like we need to get that managers down cue because like, I just wanted to push that down

CHELSEY:

Like she, she was doing everything perfectly and everybody else was

CHELSEY:

Like even when she left, she was like, I politely asked if I could leave the item.

CHELSEY:

Here.

CHELSEY:

Like, she really wanted us to know that she wasn't going out in a huff,

CHELSEY:

Like she was like, I politely gently graced my item on top of the, you know what I mean?

CHELSEY:

Like as if she's just the most delicate person ever.

CHELSEY:

I don't know, it's a little bit of like a low.

CHELSEY:

Blow thing to be like, and I'm going to let everyone that I know, know

CHELSEY:

You know, like it's just, it feels, it does feel very Kareny.

CHELSEY:

Was she attacking Ross or was she just attacking this store?

CHELSEY:

Like, was she saying that Ross, the store should go out of business or just this location?

TREY:

Just that one because permanently shut this store down completely is in all caps.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

TREY:

Yeah.

TREY:

I am curious how Lisa ended up at this Honolulu location, leaving a

TREY:

That's so perplexing to me.

TREY:

And Lisa has contributed 13 other reviews to TripAdvisor.

CHELSEY:

Did she filter those appropriately?

TREY:

I did not go on a scavenger but that would be fun.

TREY:

Actually.

TREY:

There were some spelling, grammar issues.

TREY:

Like I was saying, there were sort of sprinkled in here and there it's that thing that we

CHELSEY:

Right.

TREY:

But I think it's odd that they are closing the dressing room two hours early, but that's sort

TREY:

And then the drama of the checkout person not being able to get the card to run.

TREY:

Lisa feels like it's happening to her or to them and not taking into account that like.

CHELSEY:

This other woman also couldn't go into the fitting room and then other woman.

TREY:

Well, this woman is trying to check out and the card reader is not working and

TREY:

And now you're interjecting about being upset about, you're saying you're not the manager,

TREY:

So that makes me feel a little, like a little like, uh, if we're off on a

CHELSEY:

about, you're just like pissed that like life is handing you lemons

TREY:

also its so interesting to me to stop in the middle of a road trip to like go

CHELSEY:

Yeah, same.

CHELSEY:

I mean, I will say in terms of entertainment value, I don't know if it was just that, like,

TREY:

I feel like I have could crown this.

CHELSEY:

I can crown it.

CHELSEY:

I'm ready.

TREY:

All right.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

TREY:

So as you know, Chelsey and I each have our own set of one to five crown cards and in

TREY:

You ready?

CHELSEY:

I am ready.

VOICEOVER:

Total score!.

VOICEOVER:

Yeah.

VOICEOVER:

Okay Okay.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

Unanimous

TREY:

both

CHELSEY:

are crown.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

We're each holding up one crown.

CHELSEY:

This was like the easiest crowning ever.

CHELSEY:

I mean, I don't know.

CHELSEY:

I gave her one crown because I felt like that was ridiculous that they closed at 7:30, but

TREY:

Well, that's why I did one crown.

TREY:

Cause I wanted to do half a crown on its own, but I did think it was entertaining

TREY:

But then, like you said, it is obnoxious.

TREY:

They closed the dresser room two and a half hours before close when this is a clothing store.

TREY:

Um, so that's just like insane.

TREY:

There's no impact.

TREY:

I do think it's funny.

TREY:

So that's why I did one crown.

CHELSEY:

Yes.

TREY:

All right.

TREY:

So we did it Lisa, thank you so much,

CHELSEY:

Thanks Lisa, for putting this out into the wrong list.

TREY:

and I hope you have a great time.

TREY:

Frequenting.

TREY:

The Richmond, Virginia Ross's that are so much better.

CHELSEY:

Yes, please go to those because this one sounds terrible.

CHELSEY:

All right, let's take a quick break.

CHELSEY:

And when we come back, we'll see how Meryl's tan looks before getting into my review.

TREY:

Oh, I love that.

TREY:

Gosh, I'm so jealous.

TREY:

She was on the Caribbean.

CHELSEY:

I know she needs a vacay,

TREY:

BRB

CHELSEY:

Bye!

VOICEOVER:

Hold your crown.

VOICEOVER:

We'll be right back.

CHELSEY:

Hey Queens.

CHELSEY:

We know it can get so annoying to constantly be asked to rate and review.

CHELSEY:

We get it, obviously our show is all about reviews.

CHELSEY:

But we're asking because it's important to us to know what you're thinking of the show.

CHELSEY:

What do you love?

CHELSEY:

What do you want less of?

CHELSEY:

Let us know.

CHELSEY:

We've made it super easy with this cute little link.

CHELSEY:

lovethepodcast.com/thereviewqueens.

CHELSEY:

It's one click away in the show description below.

CHELSEY:

Who knows?!

CHELSEY:

Maybe yours will be selected as a Royal Review and an upcoming episode.

CHELSEY:

Thanks in advance.

CHELSEY:

And now back to the show.

TREY:

It's game time again, Meryl's back.

TREY:

And we're going to take a quick spin on the Meryl-Go-Round.

TREY:

Chelsey.

TREY:

You better hop on that dolphin.

CHELSEY:

Oh, I love dolphins.

CHELSEY:

Good call.

CHELSEY:

That's great.

TREY:

Isn't that what they make?

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

I mean, they also communicate, I think, in another level.

TREY:

Blowhole.

TREY:

What am I on?

CHELSEY:

oh God, I think, I don't know why I see you on like a duck.

CHELSEY:

I just think like Waldo on a duck, like flying duck

TREY:

ducks are so cute.

TREY:

We used to go on nature walks and elementary school, and we would feed ducks bread.

TREY:

And one time I got swarmed by a bunch of ducks and I threw the bag and I started crying.

CHELSEY:

Oh, no, it can be overwhelming if they all attack at once.

TREY:

It's like can be so scary.

VOICEOVER:

I don't feel like an icon most of the days, I feel like, "I can't: that's with an a.

CHELSEY:

With an a all right.

CHELSEY:

Here's the deal, Trey and I each read a rotten scathing pithy one-star zinger with 30

TREY:

Just like queen Meryl, who does it all.

CHELSEY:

Before the clock runs out.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

So my review is from Wal-Mart and it is reviewing a bamboo wooden backscratcher

CHELSEY:

And it's a once obviously, and it says, made very cheap and paper thin.

TREY:

That's really thin.

TREY:

I just have to say,

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

Paper thin is that's thin.

TREY:

okay, you strapped in you're ready.

CHELSEY:

Oh, I'll get my seatbelt on.

CHELSEY:

Yeah, here we go.

CHELSEY:

I'm ready.

VOICEOVER:

3, 2, 1 go

CHELSEY:

Very cheap pen paper thin.

TREY:

WWE.

TREY:

Magic show.

CHELSEY:

made cheap hen.

CHELSEY:

Well

TREY:

Courtroom drama,

CHELSEY:

cheap paper.

TREY:

horror.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

That's all

TREY:

Good job.

TREY:

I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,

CHELSEY:

That was a lot of pressure,

TREY:

hey, guess what?

TREY:

None of this matters.

CHELSEY:

It's true.

CHELSEY:

It's just for fun.

TREY:

today I have a one star zinger from the very cool website called Fiverr

CHELSEY:

We've used them a few times.

TREY:

We've used them.

TREY:

Uh, we, we hired three separate people for our logo and none of them were up to snuff.

CHELSEY:

They were very nice people.

TREY:

So this is for a skill called I will write impressive personal

TREY:

And this is a one-star review from Mimi B 75.

TREY:

And Mimi B 75 says seller is horrible.

CHELSEY:

okay.

CHELSEY:

Mimi didn't have that much say, but whatever.

TREY:

Good point.

CHELSEY:

Are you ready?

TREY:

I'm quacking and I'm ready.

CHELSEY:

All right.

VOICEOVER:

3, 2, 1 go.

TREY:

Sailor is horrible.

CHELSEY:

mom, calm,

TREY:

That a seller he's horrible.

CHELSEY:

melodrama,

TREY:

That's his.

CHELSEY:

courtroom drama,

TREY:

That seller is horrible.

CHELSEY:

TLC.

TREY:

Oh, that seller is horrible.

TREY:

Duck dynasty.

CHELSEY:

magic.

TREY:

Ooh.

TREY:

That's Heller's horrible.

TREY:

I made a sound effect.

CHELSEY:

Did I call TLC twice,

TREY:

Yeah, it was fun.

CHELSEY:

which is fine.

TREY:

Woo.

TREY:

Oh my gosh.

CHELSEY:

Wow.

CHELSEY:

Trey.

CHELSEY:

That six.

CHELSEY:

You did amazing.

CHELSEY:

You won.

CHELSEY:

You're our big winner

TREY:

I'm curtsying.

TREY:

Cause I'm a queen.

CHELSEY:

got TLC twice and you've delivered two different readings.

TREY:

Well, I was channeling Teen Mom 2.

TREY:

And then I was channeling duck dynasty.

CHELSEY:

I thought teen mom 2, was like

TREY:

Oh you're oh no.

CHELSEY:

Should I take away a point?

CHELSEY:

I'm just kidding.

CHELSEY:

I'm kidding.

CHELSEY:

You were great.

CHELSEY:

You were great.

TREY:

Thank you.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review.

CHELSEY:

Alrighty.

CHELSEY:

We are back from that rousing game break and it's my turn.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

TREY:

Yay.

CHELSEY:

Mine is A one-star Google review written by, all we're getting here is the initial, K.

CHELSEY:

It is a one-star review of the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament in Buena Park, California.

CHELSEY:

All right.

CHELSEY:

Are we ready?

TREY:

I'm ready.

CHELSEY:

Firstly, I want to say I am a woman.

CHELSEY:

I was so disappointed in Medieval Times when I just recently went.

CHELSEY:

First off, they replaced the spare rib with corn.

CHELSEY:

And the apple cake is now lemon pound cake.

CHELSEY:

Disgusting.

CHELSEY:

What a let down.

CHELSEY:

And I don't mind that they have a queen, but it's so obviously a politically

CHELSEY:

Where is the Black Knight?

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

Where is the executioner and the wizard?

CHELSEY:

The bad Knight is simply a bad Knight because he makes some comments against women.

CHELSEY:

And then all the people who were assigned that Knight have to awkwardly

CHELSEY:

If the realm is suddenly an evil misogynist.

CHELSEY:

Now bring back the black Knight.

CHELSEY:

This new show is not entertaining at all and is just a ploy at gender equality.

CHELSEY:

To which point it's no longer interesting or good.

CHELSEY:

What a disappointment all around.

CHELSEY:

This is supposed to be mid evil times, not modern social justice warrior times.

TREY:

Oh, dear.

CHELSEY:

Ugh, I have to point out there were so many grammatical errors in that,

CHELSEY:

That was

TREY:

What year was that written?

CHELSEY:

This was written two years ago.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

So interesting choice Chelsey, because there is a Medieval Times in Myrtle Beach

CHELSEY:

Okay.

TREY:

To my recollection.

TREY:

I thought it was a princess, not a queen.

TREY:

Yeah.

TREY:

You know, this is like more than 15 years ago when I was in college.

TREY:

Is that true?

TREY:

Oh my God.

CHELSEY:

Don't say such things

TREY:

But I knew, like I know the girl who was the princess and she's younger than I am.

TREY:

So I don't know what that's about.

TREY:

I think I did go on a school trip as a kid and I, my memory is that it was a king.

TREY:

So I think, I think the royalty changes, like, I think that is in flux regardless.

TREY:

I don't know.

TREY:

I cannot speak for Medieval Times, but it is hilarious to me that they

CHELSEY:

I know.

CHELSEY:

I know.

TREY:

How are those equivalent, like in the same tier?

CHELSEY:

That was like what?

CHELSEY:

I started to get excited about this review.

CHELSEY:

Cause I was like, oh my God, this is going to be hilarious.

CHELSEY:

But like, I mean, she kind of lost it after that.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

They also replaced the apple cake with lemon pound cake.

CHELSEY:

But like my biggest question is how many times did K go to Medieval Times?

TREY:

Hm.

CHELSEY:

Because it seems like K must frequent this place.

CHELSEY:

She knows the menu, like the back of her hand enough that she's like

CHELSEY:

you know, it's like somebody who does something over and over and over and over and over again.

CHELSEY:

And it's the same way every time.

CHELSEY:

And you just come to expect that thing.

CHELSEY:

And then you come one time and things are different and you're just like, whoa, what

CHELSEY:

And K must just go to this Medieval Times all the time, which is so funny to me.

CHELSEY:

I went once.

CHELSEY:

I think of Medieval Times as being like a bucket list item, like you

CHELSEY:

I don't need to go back, but K must go there all the time.

TREY:

I'm confused about the whole black Knight thing.

TREY:

They, they, there's no longer.

TREY:

I, my memory was like, everyone sits in a certain section and you're that color

TREY:

And there was like a black Knight.

TREY:

That was the villain.

TREY:

Is K suggesting they change that for like racial equality

CHELSEY:

I think what Katie's saying is.

TREY:

or is K mostly mad about gender equality?

CHELSEY:

I dunno, like it is, I'll give you, it is confusing because it

CHELSEY:

First.

CHELSEY:

I thought it was that she was upset that they like replaced the black Knight with the queen.

CHELSEY:

Right.

CHELSEY:

Because it's like, we need to have more female characters,

TREY:

Oh, like there's a female on the horse.

TREY:

Oh, that would be so fierce.

CHELSEY:

Right!

CHELSEY:

So I guess so that's what I was thinking.

CHELSEY:

Is that like, oh, it's going to be like, this character is going to

TREY:

But why would the queen be riding?

TREY:

Wouldn't it be like a peasant or something?

TREY:

Like

CHELSEY:

I don't know, like I don't, I don't, I don't know the narrative of, of the Medieval

TREY:

You can't be the dramaturg for Medieval Times.

CHELSEY:

Unfortunately, I'm not equipped to be the dramaturg for Medieval

CHELSEY:

She also mentioned basically the black Knight is cut

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

I literally just went to the website and the first image is the black Knight fighting a green Knight.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

So I don't know, but in this production, maybe the part of the black Knight

CHELSEY:

Like, I don't know.

CHELSEY:

That was what I thought.

TREY:

Wait, I see they it's it's now checkered.

TREY:

So it's the black and white Knight.

TREY:

The green Knight, the yellow Knight, the red Knight, the red and yellow

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

There's no images of a female.

TREY:

This was in California?

CHELSEY:

Yeah, this was in Bueno Park, California, but there's a couple of things.

CHELSEY:

So I don't mind that they have a queen, but it's so obviously a politically correct me

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

Like I don't understand what they mean.

CHELSEY:

Like, so they added a queen, but then the where's the black Knights and the black night's gone,

TREY:

Oh, there was like a wizard person.

CHELSEY:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

So they're saying basically they, they did a rewrite of this Medieval Time show

CHELSEY:

She did not like it one bit.

TREY:

I'm curious.

TREY:

I wonder how many rewrites have happened in history prior to this?

TREY:

Like, I wonder how long Medieval Times has been around and how

TREY:

You know, I, I just want to share this because it keeps coming up for me.

TREY:

In Myrtle Beach, right next door to Medieval Times was the Dolly Parton's Dixie

TREY:

They're not similar, but it's like an arena and they serve food and they're

TREY:

And Dolly Parton famously removed the word Dixie because people were offended by it.

TREY:

And she has this beautiful statement.

TREY:

That's like, nothing is worth someone being offended.

TREY:

If one human being has the fleeting thought that it's offensive, I'm taking the word out.

TREY:

End of conversation.

TREY:

Good for Medieval Times trying to like show representation for little girls.

TREY:

If that is what's occurring here, I recognize that K can feel threatened.

TREY:

Well, K's a female.

TREY:

I recognize the K may not want to see that because maybe that isn't historically

CHELSEY:

That's what it is.

CHELSEY:

Yes.

CHELSEY:

It feels like, like, K, considers herself quite an expert of this time.

CHELSEY:

And she's suggesting that regardless of whether or not it's right or wrong,

CHELSEY:

In exchange for a more like modern take on the story.

CHELSEY:

But what I, I mean, listen, K didn't give me any information that's valuable here as

CHELSEY:

Like?

CHELSEY:

What's so bad about it all.

CHELSEY:

Like I'm confused.

CHELSEY:

I know what we took away, but I don't know what it is that we are seeing.

CHELSEY:

Like, are we cheering for a queen instead of a black Knight?

CHELSEY:

Like, what is it that I can come to expect?

TREY:

Well, you can come to expect there's no more spare rib.

CHELSEY:

Yeah, I can come to expect

TREY:

Kay was very clear

CHELSEY:

and lemon pound cake.

CHELSEY:

Disgusting.

TREY:

I mean, do you think that this is a common experience?

TREY:

I think maybe if you're not cool with being PC, then sure.

TREY:

This might be common for you.

CHELSEY:

Maybe, but like how many people walking?

CHELSEY:

Like I said, like, I think this is something you do, like once in a lifetime.

CHELSEY:

So like, if you hadn't been there a million times to know that it should have

CHELSEY:

And you were just going to see the show.

CHELSEY:

You wouldn't know any different, you'd be like, Ooh, this corn is

TREY:

That is the key point right there, Chelsey!

TREY:

is this like, what does it matter?

CHELSEY:

What does it matter?

CHELSEY:

Like, I don't understand.

CHELSEY:

Is she like dining at Medieval Times every week?

TREY:

I guess the value here is that K is pointing out that there are changes to, , the experience.

TREY:

It's no longer what it once was.

TREY:

But to me, I don't care.

TREY:

I mean, if I'm going, it's like, I'm going to bring my nephew.

TREY:

Like, it doesn't matter.

TREY:

Like it's like, so it's not necessarily a problem.

TREY:

I think I can crown this.

CHELSEY:

Okay.

CHELSEY:

Let's crown it.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

TREY:

Are you ready?

CHELSEY:

I think so.

VOICEOVER:

Total Score!

TREY:

I like, I almost put up the five just to see your reaction.

CHELSEY:

Oh, no, no, no, no.

CHELSEY:

Well, I almost put 0.5.

TREY:

Oh, no, I was going to put the five just for you to freak out.

TREY:

so Chelsey and I both are holding up the one crown, I'm just going to go quick.

TREY:

Here.

TREY:

It, to me, it's sort of like Medieval Times is like stupid.

TREY:

And like, it's just frivolous entertainment for children and you eat a Turkey leg.

TREY:

That's offensive to people that don't want to kill animals.

TREY:

So to me, who cares, it's not a deep impact to me.

TREY:

I gave the one crown because I'm very clear.

TREY:

I do think it's stupid that they changed the spare rep to corn.

TREY:

That's not even the same tier on a food pyramid.

TREY:

So for that reason, I gave it one crown.

TREY:

What about you?

CHELSEY:

Yeah, similar.

CHELSEY:

I mean, at least I know what's on the menu.

CHELSEY:

That's that's really like the only beneficial thing, I think, that came out of this.

CHELSEY:

I don't think it would keep me from going, I don't think the normal average Joe has this experience

CHELSEY:

So for that reason, one crown.

TREY:

Great pick.

TREY:

Very entertaining.

TREY:

Like it was an entertaining conversation.

CHELSEY:

yes,

TREY:

Speaking of Queens, the Queens princesses, Kings wizards, Knights,

TREY:

Do you have someone that you want to induct today for...?

VOICEOVER:

My Royal highness!

CHELSEY:

I would like to induct The Magic Eraser as my Royal Highness, because that thing.

CHELSEY:

Really can just do it all.

CHELSEY:

It can get smudges out of your wall.

CHELSEY:

If you get a scratch on your car, you can fix it with the magic eraser.

CHELSEY:

When I was home, we had a bunch of scratches on the bottom of like one of my mom's pans.

CHELSEY:

We use one of those magic erasers sheets.

CHELSEY:

It came right out.

CHELSEY:

I heard people are using magic erasers on their teeth for whitening.

CHELSEY:

I do not recommend that.

CHELSEY:

Do not do that.

CHELSEY:

Yet people say that it works, but don't do it.

CHELSEY:

Just go and have your teeth whitened like a normal person.

CHELSEY:

I don't think that's the magic racers fault.

CHELSEY:

It definitely was not intended to be used that way, but the point is the magic eraser.

CHELSEY:

It's just exactly what it says.

CHELSEY:

It is.

CHELSEY:

It's magic.

TREY:

That magic eraser is really is

CHELSEY:

It's just magic.

CHELSEY:

What about you?

CHELSEY:

Trey, do you have someone that you want to induct as your Royal Highness?

TREY:

So I am inducting, a friend of mine named Charlene Lite!

TREY:

Charlene Lite, is someone who lives in Los Angeles, she's a neighbor of yours, Chelsey.

CHELSEY:

Oh, nice.

TREY:

And, uh, we met many, many years ago.

TREY:

We used to have an ongoing Thursday lunch date for honestly four or five years.

TREY:

I'm inducting her because Charlene is a unicorn of a human being.

TREY:

She is a Fearless Coach.

TREY:

She is someone with which you can hire to help you break through fears in your life

TREY:

She took on this amazing task when she turned 40, where she did 40 fearless acts and they

TREY:

She.

TREY:

Did another fearless act where she had to go and knock on every single door in her

TREY:

Because in Manhattan, when she lived in New York, you know, you don't always

TREY:

Oh, she like was a busker on the subway and sang, because she's a brilliant musician as well.

TREY:

one of my other, uh, and this I'm just going long, but another favorite, one of mine is that she

TREY:

And she just handed them out to people in, um, union

TREY:

so nice.

TREY:

And what came up for her.

TREY:

Was like a beautiful cleansing of these things that we self-impose in ourselves that stop us.

TREY:

So she's a beautiful transcendent woman.

TREY:

She has an entire blog that goes through that entire process.

TREY:

She turned that into a coaching business.

TREY:

She's also a tremendous yoga teacher.

TREY:

She does amazing yoga retreats around the world.

TREY:

And she's also.

TREY:

Trained as a soul reader, it's like getting a Tarrot reading except Charlene

TREY:

And instead of telling you your future, she is able to see what it is, that your higher,

TREY:

It's so tremendously amazing.

TREY:

She is just, uh, I could not, I like I'm gonna cry.

TREY:

She's such a wonderful human being.

TREY:

She means so much to me.

TREY:

And she also has a podcast called The Fearless Lady Podcast.

TREY:

You should listen.

TREY:

She is committed to making the world better and she's definitely done that for me.

TREY:

And Charlene Lite is My Royal Highness.

TREY:

I love her very much.

CHELSEY:

Oh, I love that.

CHELSEY:

I feel like Charlene Lite is like the Magic Eraser of humans.

CHELSEY:

Like you got an issue.

CHELSEY:

She's going to magic erase that out one way or another with all of her

CHELSEY:

So many things.

CHELSEY:

That's great.

TREY:

So let's keep this regality flowing and read a Royal Review.

CHELSEY:

Oh, yay.

CHELSEY:

Let's do it.

VOICEOVER:

Baby it's time for some Royal Reviews!

TREY:

Chelsey.

TREY:

And I have been thoroughly overwhelmed by the support that we have been

TREY:

This Royal Review thing we thought it would be every now and then.

TREY:

And we have been getting such an influx that it just is remarkable.

TREY:

So we want to share another one with you today from a user on apple podcasts named

TREY:

Witch.

TREY:

So Hammondcheesesandwitch.

And this is the review:

five stars question, mark exclamation.

And this is the review:

Yeah.

CHELSEY:

Hmm.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

So first of all, giving anything less than five stars on a review of people,

TREY:

Like seriously, you care enough about reviews to listen to an entire podcast about them.

TREY:

And then write one yourself, but are still upsot.

TREY:

That's that's a credit to the jingle bells, Barbara Streisand song that your need for

TREY:

Sorry.

TREY:

No, but let me also say that.

TREY:

I refuse to make this a florid spewing of supurlatives lest T and C declare it.

TREY:

Quote, unquote, suspect for it's all too positive.

TREY:

Hit every note.

TREY:

Quality, all caps.

TREY:

Sorry.

TREY:

I liked it too much.

TREY:

Y'all.

TREY:

So fine.

TREY:

Here's some criticism I patented.

TREY:

Disagree with Trey, Trey and Chels on multiple occasions.

TREY:

In fact, I disagreed so strongly that I found myself speaking my objections out loud

TREY:

Tracy and Che.

TREY:

Okay.

TREY:

I'm stealing that Tracy and Che I'll allow this rambunctious hilarity to continue as

TREY:

The people waiting in the podiatrists office have heard enough from me already.

TREY:

PS, all caps, Natalie Weiss.

CHELSEY:

my goodness.

CHELSEY:

I feel like I have, I know we're not allowed to review this review, but I have so many questions.

CHELSEY:

Like I want to know what HammondCheese really disagreed with us on Hammond Cheese, if

CHELSEY:

And I would love to know if you felt so passionately about something, what was it?

TREY:

I definitely think that HammondCheeseSandWitch must leave us a voicemail.

TREY:

I want to know who this is, because they are a genius writer.

TREY:

also, I am obsessed with getting a five-star review that both compliments

TREY:

I also,

TREY:

I hear the larger point they enjoy the content, even though they don't always agree, which

TREY:

So percent.

TREY:

amazing, amazing review.
