Johnny:

Welcome to Podfluence, the podcast for business coaches and speakers who

Johnny:

want to build influence and authority through podcasting as an expert guest and

Johnny:

who knows maybe even with your own show.

Johnny:

My name is John Ball, or they, most people call me Johnny, either's fine.

Johnny:

I'm a mid-life entrepreneur and podcaster who lives in the beautiful

Johnny:

city of Valencia with my husband and was fortunate enough to discover

Johnny:

a great passion for podcasting.

Johnny:

I have made the move to working full-time in the podcast industry as

Johnny:

I have a somewhat varied and interesting background as a former law student who

Johnny:

decided in his final year at university that I did not want to be a lawyer

Johnny:

anymore and began a string of jobs, mostly in the customer service sector,

Johnny:

which led me to becoming cabin crew at British airways for almost 12 years.

Johnny:

Yes, there are some stories about that.

Johnny:

And no, we don't have time for them right now.

Johnny:

I would describe myself as having been something of a

Johnny:

drifter for the longest time.

Johnny:

Not really knowing what I wanted to do and coasting through life,

Johnny:

doing just barely enough to get by, until I discovered some things I was

Johnny:

passionate about coaching, training, public speaking, and psychology.

Johnny:

Had I not discovered these passions there's every chance I would still

Johnny:

be flying the friendly skies and feeling somewhat unfulfilled.

Johnny:

Luckily life took a different turn and along the way.

Johnny:

I discovered podcasting and I've been very fortunate.

Johnny:

I've been fortunate enough to be a lead coach and trainer with the T.

Johnny:

With T Harv Eker is online courses and programs.

Johnny:

I've been fortunate enough to speak at some of the world's biggest podcasting

Johnny:

events and also to be pretty well paid for delivering talks and training to

Johnny:

businesses and business networking organizations on topics like influence and

Johnny:

persuasion and podcasting for business.

Johnny:

I'm currently incredibly fortunate to be part of the sales team with

Johnny:

Kevin Chemidlin at Grow The Show where I get to help podcasters grow

Johnny:

and monetize their shows and work with an amazing team of people.

Johnny:

If you've tuned into the show before you might remember it as Speaking

Johnny:

Influence, which has been the name of the show for the last three years.

Johnny:

And I was actually the second iteration of my idea to podcast, as I had tried

Johnny:

way too hard to be clever with the name of the show when I first launched.

Johnny:

So clever, that no one got it.

Johnny:

Ooops!

Johnny:

Speaking Influence has been about understanding how to build professional

Johnny:

authority and develop our personal charisma through things like psychology,

Johnny:

NLP, public speaking, rhetoric, online marketing, philosophy, and more besides.

Johnny:

Whilst influence and persuasion skills will stay at the heart of this show,

Johnny:

I have recognized that there is a need and a niche or niche, if you prefer.

Johnny:

In developing and delivering personal and professional authority through the

Johnny:

audio format of podcast interviews.

Johnny:

As a guest, or even as a host, this can help you to maximize the impact of

Johnny:

your appearances and build a following of people who will love what you do.

Johnny:

And how you do it.

Johnny:

You're also going to learn frameworks to enhance your charisma, prepare

Johnny:

yourself for interviews and make you more persuasive, maximizing your ability to

Johnny:

help more people with your expertise.

Johnny:

I've been studying the psychology of influence and persuasion as well as the

Johnny:

tools of public speaking for many years

Johnny:

And when I first started my podcast, I wanted to bring those things together.

Johnny:

And luckily for me, they are a perfect match.

Johnny:

When I started my show, I had never even heard of the art of

Johnny:

rhetoric in public speaking.

Johnny:

And so we have gotten to discover those wonderful things together with

Johnny:

the help of amazing guests, like my friend, Simon, Lancaster, who you'll

Johnny:

be hearing from again very soon.

Johnny:

My podcasting journey has been quite something.

Johnny:

And if I'm honest, I'm still here doing it because I love it, not

Johnny:

because it's made been loads of money or anything like that far from it.

Johnny:

I'm still working on that side of things, but now I am getting it figured out.

Johnny:

Thanks to people like Kevin Chemidlin.

Johnny:

Like many podcasters I started my show without having a clue what I was doing.

Johnny:

In fact it had been a project option for Toastmasters.

Johnny:

I had a brief fling with podcasts back in 2012.

Johnny:

And yes, those episodes are still around, if you want to sleuth

Johnny:

around and find them I'm not sure I'd bother if I was here though.

Johnny:

I actually started my show before Lewis Howes got into podcasting, and he was

Johnny:

even going to be a guest of mine at one point, sadly, I packed it in, and

Johnny:

yes, I'm still kicking myself for that.

Johnny:

I've nearly quit podcasting a number of times, but I guess the truth is

Johnny:

I really believe in podcasting as a platform for sharing great information.

Johnny:

Entertaining intelligently and having amazing conversations.

Johnny:

I'm pleased to see that podcast and keeps on growing and developing.

Johnny:

And I now believe that any expert coach and speaker should be appearing on

Johnny:

podcasts at the very least, if not also having that own As well, it's one of the

Johnny:

best ways to build relationships and trust with the people you most want to serve.

Johnny:

And it is all about service.

Johnny:

I haven't always been the best person at sticking with things in my life, and yet,

Johnny:

somehow with podcasting I have persisted, and have been regularly

Johnny:

making shows for over three years.

Johnny:

I feel deeply privileged to be known and connected to some of the biggest names

Johnny:

in the podcasting world, as well as the magnificent community of indie podcasters

Johnny:

I've been fortunate enough to encounter.

Johnny:

My amazing network of friends has come about mostly through

Johnny:

my commitment to podcasting.

Johnny:

And it is only one of the reasons why I ended up it so much.

Johnny:

One of the things that Kevin Chemidlin recommends podcasters to do is to

Johnny:

get specific with their audience, and when we have a chat about my show, I

Johnny:

realized I could get way more specific still and serve more people who are

Johnny:

in and around the world of podcasting.

Johnny:

I decided that rather than focusing on public speaking coaching, which

Johnny:

I still do from time to time, I would focus instead on personal and

Johnny:

professional presentation skills for business coaches and speakers who are

Johnny:

recognizing that the medium of podcasts

Johnny:

is one of the best ways currently to build authority and scale up that business.

Johnny:

Going on a podcast is likely to help you but going on a podcast and

Johnny:

showing up as an incredible guest, packed with value bombs and quotable

Johnny:

clips and unmatched charisma will make you a bit of a celebrity.

Johnny:

I'm not suggesting you show up like some zany hyped up kids, TV

Johnny:

presenter with acute ADHD, but that you know how to turn up the dials

Johnny:

on your personal energy and charisma

Johnny:

And that you become someone who people will seek out because you fully understand

Johnny:

that entertainment as well as education is key to growing your professional brand.

Johnny:

I've been building up my Podfluence Pros framework for helping coaches and speakers

Johnny:

become sought after podcast guests, avoid the pitfalls, charm the hosts and

Johnny:

audiences alike and get invited back again and again, and see noticeable results

Johnny:

from that investment in time and energy

Johnny:

into being on the right podcasts with the right audience and

Johnny:

the right call to action.

Johnny:

Whilst I do have a Podfluence Accelerator program, this show will take you

Johnny:

through the personal presentation and charisma tools that you need To

Johnny:

rise above the crowd and become a highly valued voice in your sector.

Johnny:

Join me for solo episodes and guest episodes that are all centered around

Johnny:

helping you develop the clarity, confidence, and charisma to become a key

Johnny:

person of influence and master the ethical skills of persuasion, making you able

Johnny:

to serve your perfect future clients and customers In a bigger way than ever before

Johnny:

and expanding your reach recognition and revenue as a coach or consultant.

Johnny:

Podfluence is the show for business coaches and speakers who are aiming

Johnny:

to grow their reach and recognition by mastering the methodologies to

Johnny:

maximize their presentational impact.

Johnny:

I hope you'll join me in this new direction for the show and the journey

Johnny:

into becoming a Podfluencer through the opportunities podcasting provides.
