Matt Douglas also known as D53 and D gie pronounced doug-ee is from originally from California Cupertino and makes retrofuturistic electronic music It ranges from house and nbsp dance-pop to even the Rhythm and Hip Hop side of things It takes some form from old M A R R S tracks and mashes it with Jeff Beck or Khruangbin I have a tough time defining what I make in those terms but I m mostly just trying to have a lot of fun making it and doing cool weird stuff -MattMatt used to play in a band called Clusterfunk in Austin from 2016 till earlier this year Clusterfunk has played at many of the venues in Austin including empire control room one-2-one bar the Mohawk and the Parish and has opened for or played with a number of great bands such as Big Wy s Brass Band TC Superstar and Lakandon with General Smiley We also played at the college Co-Op s a lot and I still hold those people and those places deep in my heart -Also MattPart 2 of 2 Matt starts off by telling us about Clusterfunk We talk about how artists bands genres and sounds evolve We mention culture traditionalists the California scene festivals Co-op s and more Modern Jazz Indie-Pop Psychedelia and Funk-Rock inspirations come together to form the sound of Austin based independent outfit Clusterfunk Hope you enjoy Clusterfunk BandcampInstagramFacebook
